CNC Punching
CNC PUNCHING
From originally working in the power press sector with some 18 power presses. To investing in our first CNC punch press in 1986. We have constantly looked to include punch presses in our facility. Even though the majority of markets have now moved to laser cut blanks. With over 30 years in this sector our skilled workforce have grown to understand the key factors at being successful in this sector. We generally stick to the rule of punching materials up to 3mm in thickness. Beyond this the edge quality and finish deteriorate and you should look to laser cutting.
We currently have two Amada CNC punch press cells. These are mainly used to process parts that have forms, lots of holes or tapped holes. As a laser has to pierce the sheet then cut the circumference of the hole. A punch press can do this in one blow, but you lose edge quality.
One is a standalone Pega 358, used to punch small quantities of formed parts.
The other is a Vipros 368 Queen, coupled to a sheet loaders, and Part pickers. The sheet loader, will pick a sheet off a pack of material, load it into the clamps of the machine. The punch Press will cut the shapes in the sheet. The part picker will pick the part out of the sheet. Then stack them on pallets. The skeleton of the sheet, is then stacked on an unloading table.
An example of the material range below :
1mm – 3mm Aluminium.
1mm – 3mm Coated Mild Steel.
1mm – 3mm Mild Steel.
1mm – 3mm Stainless Steel.
